Free Chapters and Character Sketches

I don’t think my books are murder mysteries, well they are in one sense, in that there is a body, a policeman and a lot of worry. But they are more like character sketches. A mystery with a twist, a murder with a bit of depth. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, as once I’d finished editing the new book, I took some time off. (Actually, I did try writing, as it is usually the best place in the world to do so, but I guess there simply wasn’t anything left in the tank.)

We are home, putting stuff away, looking at our very cluttered home with new eyes. Looking at everything with new eyes. Being away for two weeks, does give you a bit of a breather, even though Mike had to come back in the middle to help his mum, after his father died. I always hope the feeling will last, that feeling of being in control, but before you know it, I start filling the diary, destroying the space between appointments, with more appointments. Not this time! Ha! Ha! NOT THIS TIME! Life is for breathing, not for panicking or wishing it were over so you can creep to bed with a good book or podcast. Murder Bot series by Martha Wells is good. Life is for laughing with friends over wine, reading, eating chocolate, watching good movies, trying new things, doing puzzles, knitting and staring at the sea.

NEW BOOK: OUT 12TH AUGUST
David and Abigail's story as told by her handmaidens.
Radiant
In this compelling account of Abigail and David’s romance, author Kirsty A. Wilmott provides an in-depth look at the life and struggles of her characters. Surrounded by handmaidens, Abigail is both instigator of her destiny as well as victim of her circumstances – a woman who understands what is needed for her and her family to survive – and who fearlessly acts to protect them. Those closest to Abigail tell the heartachingly beautiful story of two lovers struggling under the pressures of a kingdom not yet established and the ensuing political pragmatism that ultimately tears them apart.
