I know I didn’t post last week, apart from a couple of Instagrams, but that’s because we were at Greenbelt. A Christian arts festival we’ve been going to, on and off since I was 23. I can’t tell you what a good feeling it was walking in through the gates after 2 years absence. The smell of the food vans, the over dry grass, the book shop, the Jesus arms etc. Now you know I struggle with anxiety, but despite the loos, always an interesting experience, not a whiff of adrenaline or feeling sick at any point. Awesome.
My highlight though, was going to the Jesus arms to meet up with other aspiring authors, led by Sarah Hagger-Holt. It was informal but informative and to be surrounded by the enthusiastic, mostly young authors, with so many brilliant ideas, such hope, such drive and creativity was a boost in the arm. The publishing world is tough but at least those young people understand social media and the way to work technology. I’m still afraid that I might one day click on something that will mean I lose everything! I know I’ve often been down in the dumps about writing but sitting in that tent, having to shout over the hub bub of noise was quite inspiring. I am inspired. Onwards and upwards.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your time at the festival and that your anxiety didn’t cause you too many problems. I personally can’t wait for your next book. It must have been very interesting talking to lots of other authors.
