Day 1 of our 14 day self-isolation after returning from France. We had a fabulous 6 days, two of which were on the road, but it was on the road in France where there is simply more sky, less traffic etc. Our first proper stop for a coffee after the tunnel, was at a motorway service area where we sat at a small outside table, and listened to noise of the lorries roaring by, sipping a very strong, slightly harsh coffee. Oh, it was sooooo good! The following day found us at our two favourite Vouvray vineyards. We knew what we wanted and it didn’t take long to load the boxes into the car. We’d left the back seats at home!
We were blessed with warm sunshine, a beautiful room, and some chateaus to explore. So though it was only four days, and a long way to go, it was worth it. Even coming home to water dripping through the ceiling!
So now we’re starting our two week quarantine. Back to work for Mike, back to editing book two for me, still can’t think of a good title. How quickly we shed the carefree relaxation of a break, how quickly we put on our work-a-day heads. But I am going to hold on very tightly to the memory of the warm sun on my face, a glass of Vouvray demi-sec clasped tightly in my hand and Mike’s question hanging in the air between us, “What would you like to do now?”
