Blog Sunday 2nd Feb 20 The Radio Interview

I was interviewed for the Sunday morning programme on BBC Wiltshire Sound, the Jonathan Fido show. I was nervous, but he was a lovely man, so it wasn’t difficult talking to him and he asked me about the two most important things in my life (apart from family) so it was easy to wax lyrical. The book has loomed somewhat large of late and faith has always been a big part of who I am.

Now I’ve always struggled with low self-esteem so for the first few moments I wondered who this confident woman was. Once I’d got to grips with the fact that it was really me, I began to analyse what I was saying. One of the few moments I was genuinely able to stand outside of myself, listening in. What I said is true. I never set out to write about faith, but as it is so intrinsically a part of me, I guess it’s going to make an appearance in my writing. The characters do constantly surprise me and I’m never quite sure what they will do, or how any of my books are going to end. I have grown surprisingly fond of the chore community, Anna and her parishioners, and am itching to finish editing book number two in the series, purely so I can start book three, to find out what happens next to them all.

Imagination is a powerful thing.

The year will take them to the very edge of their insecurities and relationships and beyond to the conclusion that we are never truly what we seem...
