Humbled By A Bit of Good News For a Change

Sunday 6th November 22

Yesterday, instead of writing my blog, I was at church eating cake, helping folk fill in registration forms for joining the register for bone marrow donation. A life saver for those who have blood cancer. A family at church is going through this, and having suffered the first half of treatment, they then discovered that none of the family were a match for the critical bone marrow. Hence the drive at church.

It was such a privilege to be there, because the optimum age is twenties, but anyone up to the age of 55 can still donate quite successfully. So mostly there was a room full of young people, helping, registering, arriving by bus, despite it being a birthday, despite not having had a lot of sleep because they’d been out the night before, because their mate from work had asked them to come, because they saw it on facebook! It was more than a bit humbling, and did I mention there was cake, lots of amazing cake.

And you don’t have to turn up to one of these things in person, you can simply register on line and they’ll send you a kit. The process is incredibly simple and not at all painful.

So a much humbled Kirsty walked home early afternoon, full of cake and coffee, wondering at the kindness of the world, which had definitely got a bit lost in amongst all the usual bad news.

NEW BOOK: OUT 12TH AUGUST
David and Abigail's story as told by her handmaidens.
Radiant
In this compelling account of Abigail and David’s romance, author Kirsty A. Wilmott provides an in-depth look at the life and struggles of her characters. Surrounded by handmaidens, Abigail is both instigator of her destiny as well as victim of her circumstances – a woman who understands what is needed for her and her family to survive – and who fearlessly acts to protect them. Those closest to Abigail tell the heartachingly beautiful story of two lovers struggling under the pressures of a kingdom not yet established and the ensuing political pragmatism that ultimately tears them apart.
